The numbers have been bouncing around a lot lately. Last month’s report was disappointing. Today’s report shows an unexpected drop in the jobless rate. But the best way to cut through the noise is to look at a three-month average of job losses. (The unemployment rate is noisier than the numbers on job losses.)
